Social Development
Minecraft and Leadership (11-12 PM) - ages 7+
In this fun and engaging course, young learners will explore the world of Minecraft while building valuable teamwork and leadership skills. Working together on creative challenges and group missions, students will learn how to communicate, problem-solve, delegate tasks, and support each other’s ideas. Along the way, they’ll develop confidence, empathy, and collaboration, all within a safe, teacher-guided Minecraft environment. No prior Minecraft experience needed!
Dungeons and Dragons (2:30-4 PM) - ages 10+
Welcome to a unique and immersive Enrichment where learners become the architects of their own epic tales. In this captivating adventure, students play a very open-ended version of Dungeons and Dragons, where they can unleash their creativity and work with others to tell an ongoing narrative together. Emphasizing social learning and language skills, this course empowers students to explore their imaginations and embrace the art of storytelling.
In this adventure-filled world, students have the freedom to become anything they can imagine – from daring knights to cunning sorcerers, and even mythical creatures from distant lands. Guided by a skilled instructor, learners embark on a journey of character creation, crafting intricate backstories and personalities that bring their avatars to life. Through engaging role-playing exercises, students develop essential language skills, expressing their characters’ thoughts, feelings, and actions with eloquence and flair.
Throughout the narrative, students encounter opportunities for critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity. They unveil plot twists, ingenious puzzles, and daring escapades, showcasing their language skills as they shape the destiny of their characters and the world they’ve collectively created.
Tech & Engineering
Junior Engineers, 3D Shapes (12-1 PM) - ages 6+
Are you a curious young learner who loves to build things, work with tools and let your imagination run wild? Our Junior Engineers class is perfect for you! In this course, learners will be introduced to the mechanics of motors and electronics, launchers, and building structures. Through a series of hands-on experiments and workshops, participants will become more comfortable using the tools we have at the Learning Lab and confident in their abilities to make their projects come to life.
The Fall and Winter sessions of Junior Engineers focused on the importance of 2D shapes like triangle. The Spring session will focus on 3D shapes like cubes, cylinders, and pyraminds. This session will combine digital 3D modelling with hands-on projects building strucures out of real 3D objects.
Animation (1-2 PM) - ages 7+
In this activity, learners will explore 2D digital animation through hands-on experimentation. They’ll create quick, expressive animations and produce a series of short, humorous scenes. Participants will work with at least two different animation software programs, using professional digital tools to discover contrasting animation workflows. They’ll begin with animation based on keyframes and pivot points, then shift to frame-by-frame animation created through digital drawing. By trying both approaches, learners will gain a practical understanding of how different animation processes influence movement, style, and creative possibilities, while building confidence through active, creative exploration.
Junior Video Game Design (1-2:30 PM) - ages 7-9
Create legendary heroes whose quests can change the universe! Perfect for campers who want to tell a story, Role Playing Games focus on world-building and character-creation. Will your game be set in a sci-world filled with tanks and helicopters, or a fantasy world of elves and orcs? Will your characters be wizards who fight with fire and ice, or warriors who take up the sword (or both)?
In this activity, you will learn to code puzzles, mazes, dialogue, weather events, cut-scenes, and turn-based combat. Use tools for creating unique characters and worlds, making it possible to build an epic game.
Video Game Design (1-2:30 PM) - ages 9+
Love playing video games? Learn how to make your own in this hands-on course led by a professional game developer.
Early lessons cover the essentials—game mechanics, physics, and input systems—using powerful game engines to turn ideas into interactive experiences. Students then dive into character creation, world-building, and animation, learning to design visually stunning levels and engaging gameplay.
As the course progresses, learners develop storylines, craft unique challenges, and build immersive environments with NPCs and dynamic obstacles. They’ll enhance their games with custom music, sound effects, and atmospheric visuals, ensuring a polished final product.
By the end, students will know how to produce and share their own games, ready to impress friends, family, or a wider audience.
