We hope you enjoyed our book recommendations for last month’s Explorer’s Book Club. We read We Are Water Protectors written by Carole Lindstrom and illustrated by Michaela Goade, and 21 Things You May Not Know About the Indian Act by Bob Joseph.
This month, we are highlighting LGBTQIA+ books to celebrate Montreal Pride!
Our first book recommendation is And Tango Makes Three by Justin Richardson and Peter Parnell. At the penguin house at the Central Park Zoo, two penguins named Roy and Silo were a little bit different from the others. But their desire for a family was the same. And with the help of a kindly zookeeper, Roy and Silo got the chance to welcome a baby penguin of their very own.
Our second book recommendation for our adult learners is Seeing Gender, An Illustrated Guide to Identity and Expression by Iris Gottlieb. This is actually a recommendation from James, our director. He read this book in June and he really enjoyed it. “It was really good, and made a lot of things I couldn’t quite grasp, super simple.”
