Dear Explorations Community,

Explorations is pleased to announce that our organization has been awarded the Canada Summer Job grant. This grant in the amount of $67,300 will be funding sixteen new positions for our Summer Camp this year. Thanks to this grant, Explorations can strengthen our mission to provide a safe and fun learning environment for all.

Canada Summer Jobs is an initiative of the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy, which aims to provide flexible and holistic services to support all young Canadians to develop the skills and gain paid work experience to successfully transition in the labour market.

Thanks to this generous donation from the Government of Canada, Explorations can provide sixteen young leaders paid employment for the summer. This grant will also allow us to put into place Explorations Mentorship Program, which includes mentoring sessions tailored to each Canada Summer Youth employee, and Health & Safety training following provincial and federal requirements.

“Receiving the Canada Summer Jobs grant will allow us to provide valuable professional experience to teens and young adults. Thanks to this grant, we are expanding our We are excited to have an enthusiastic team that will bring more energy and fun to our camp!” — James Feith, Director, Explorations

Explorations want to thank The Honourable Marc Garneau, our Member of Parliament of the riding of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce-Westmount, for advocating for our organization. Thank you to Margaret Guest, who works as a Constituency Assistant for the House of Commons, for always cheering us on. Finally, thank you to the Government of Canada and Service Canada for supporting our vision at Explorations to connect, inspire and empower learners and educators.

Canada Summer Jobs

Canada Summer Jobs is a program which provides wage subsidies to employers from not-for-profit organizations, the public-sector, and private sectors organizations with 50 or fewer full-time employees, to create quality summer work experiences for young people aged 15 to 30 years. The Government of Canada has earmarked $263 million in funding for the Canada Summer Jobs program in 2020. This funding will help create up to 70,000 jobs for youth between 15 and 30 years of age, and we will be working with employers to explore work options that reflect the latest public health advice.

“In these extraordinary times, we realize the impacts small businesses, not-for-profit organizations, and public sector employers have on our economy and our communities. Our role is to support them. This is why the Government of Canada has made changes to the Canada Summer Jobs program, so that we can help employers help their communities through good quality, safe job placements for youth.” — The Hon. Carla Qualtrough, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Disability Inclusion
