Work with us!

What is it like working at Explorations?

We are always looking for passionate, dynamic educators and Counselors to be part of our growing team and community. At Explorations, we believe that empowered educators are the cornerstone of a meaningful learning experience and in recognition of this, we offer our instructional team and support staff great working conditions and compensation.

In addition to the core job training, all Counselors will be trained in workplace safety and social sensitivity, to ensure that our Camp is both physically and emotionally safe.

To apply for current and future employment opportunities, please reach out to us by email and we will guide you throughout the application process. We will ask you to provide a CV before the end of March and will conduct interviews in early April. All successful candidates will be notified by mid-late April.

Summer Camp 2024 - Requirements

Explorations is offering various positions running from the beginning of July to the end of August. There will be a mandatory five-day training week before the start of camp (last week of June), and applicants must be available for all of July to be considered for the position.

The Counselor positions are graciously sponsored by the Canada Summer Jobs Grant. As such, applicants need to be between the ages of 15 and 30 and be Canadian citizens, permanent residents or have been granted refugee status in Canada.

Counselors will primarily work in English, which is our principal language of instruction and the Official Minority Language in Quebec. However, Counselors must also be able to communicate with Francophone Campers and guardians, given the demographics of the constituency.

Camp Counselor Positions

Camp Counselors are an integral part of our Summer Camps, who gain work experience in many areas by assisting with all aspects of our programs. Counselors are the face of the camp for their Campers, as they are the person Campers see first when they come and last when they leave. They are responsible for supervising and animating their group during down-times such as drop-off, recess, lunch and pick-up, and Counselors are the go-to person for any issues that a Camper might have.

Throughout each day, Counselors must constantly communicate with the Campers and with supervisors, collaborating with other staff to deliver our exceptional programming. Communication and collaboration skills are therefore core to this role. Adaptability is also essential, and Counselors will inevitably develop this skill as they respond to emergent situations with Campers and equipment.

Counselors also develop important administrative skills, as they learn how to help manage the bureaucratic side of the camp. For example, our Counselors learn how to use the registration system in order to document attendance. They also learn how to use collaboration apps such as Slack, and also digital tools for communicating with parents like Class Dojo.

By helping our Instructors lead diverse activities in both Arts and Technology, Counselors develop their own Creativity and Innovation skills, as well as their Digital and Technical skills. As needed, Counselors are given additional training to help them assist the Instructors with specific topics. To provide the best experience for everyone at our Camp, the Counselors are assigned to work with Instructors who teach topics that connect with their personal interests.

As needed, Counselors will be assigned specific roles. Some will focus on our Junior Campers, while others focus on our Campers with Special Needs. Other jobs include the position of Administrative Assistant and IT Specialist. All Counselors will be provided with additional training relevant to their specific tasks at Camp. For more information on these distinctive roles, please email us.
