At Explorations Camp, we understand that computer programming offers children opportunities to develop important skills in a fun, challenging and creative setting. Studies have shown that learning to code enhances children’s creativity during problem solving situations as they test new and innovative solutions to problems. Coding has also been linked to stronger computational thinking as they learn to breakdown more complex problems. Finally, with so much demand in technology-related industries, it is increasingly evident that computer skills will be in high demand in the job market for years to come.
With all these amazing benefits and opportunities in mind, Explorations Camp is happy to announce a new partnership with Kids Code Jeunesse, a Canadian not-for-profit organization dedicated to empowering kids, teachers and parents with the skills we all need to thrive in a technology-driven society. KCJ will be hosting two exciting, new Intermediate Activities within our technology program.
Scratch and Python , campers will learn to develop an interactive project using Scratch, a web-based IDE developed by MIT. They will also be exposed to Python, a popular programming language used around the world.
By choosing our HTML, CSS, and Javascript activity, campers will learn about the world of web development through exciting challenges. They will develop their own webpages using HTML and learn how to standardize styling with CSS. They will also create dynamic elements with Javascript.
These featured activities will perfectly compliment many of our other technology-based activities such as Introduction to Game Programming, Intermediate to Advanced Game Programming, Design and Code Electronics, Robotique, and Computer Technician in Training.
